PROFILE
Silvana’s journey into the world of glass art is both fascinating and inspiring. Beginning her artistic practice in 1997 with leadlight, she has evolved and expanded her craft, transitioning to fused glass in 2009. Working from her studio nestled in the picturesque hills outside Perth, she creates stunning pieces that reflect both her technical skill and deep passion for the medium.
Her artistic inspiration is drawn from a combination of childhood memories, her experiences as a subsea engineer and scuba diver, and the serene environment of the hills in which she lives. The fluidity of glass when heated serves as a key element in Silvana’s work, allowing her to create pieces with a painterly quality that expresses her unique vision.
Silvana has won notable awards such as the Gordon Award at Glass+, the Emerging Artist Award at MAGE, and has been a finalist in the Tom Malone and Mandorla exhibitions. These achievements underscore her outstanding talent and dedication to the arts.
Silvana is an avid supporter of the local arts ecology. She has been actively involved in numerous group exhibitions and has organised several arts events for various groups, fostering collaboration within the artistic community.
